What is an Activity?
Your Activity is the thing that you are asking Participants to do for your study.
Most commonly this is a survey using web-based software such as GuidedTrack, Google Forms or Qualtrics. However, it’s not limited to surveys and can be an experiment, game, stimulus-response task, web application, interactive multimedia activity or anything else that is accessible online via a link.
Before a Participant completes your activity they will see your:
- Activity title
A short title that succinctly Describes the activity to participants - Activity description
An explanation of the study and what will be required of them - Estimated time to complete activity
How long will this take them? - Payment per activity completion
Incentives and compensation for their time - Keywords (optional)
Help your Activity show up better in search results - Extra instructions (optional)
Provides additional space to give Participants instructions
They can then choose to Accept the Assignment if they would like to.
At that point they start the Demographic pre-survey before being redirected to your Activity link to complete your activity (e.g. survey).
Once they finish the activity they will need to follow the Completion link to the Feedback survey to confirm completion of the Assignment and be automatically Approved.
When we redirect Participants from the Demographic pre-survey to your Activity link we use Query string parameters to dynamically pass Participant attributes (e.g. unique identifiers and demographics) through to your activity software.
This means that you do not need to ask your participants for these identifiers and Basic demographics. You may need to setup your software to accept these parameters so that you can track unique identifiers and Demographic attributes.
If you would like to dynamically set Custom attributes for Participants then you can also add Query string parameters onto the Completion link when you redirect them to the Feedback survey using the Completion link.
These Custom attributes can be used to target Participants in future Runs.
